Alice M. Nerison

Alice M. Nerison, 86, of Westby, died Thursday November 8, 2012 at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby. She was born March 7, 1926 to Oscar and Hannah (Gronvold) Ihle. Alice was baptized, confirmed and married at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Alice attended school in Coon Valley and Westby. She married Ervin O. Nerison on February 24, 1945. Ervin died August 30, 1998. She was a longtime member of Vang Lutheran Church where she was active in ladies aid and WELCA. Alice was also active in the community with Homemaker's Club, a leader with the Mills North Springville 4-H Club and a Sunday school teacher at Bethany Lutheran Church in Esofea. She was superintendent in the Krause Building for many years at the Vernon County Fair where a 4-H Arts and Crafts plaque is awarded annually in her name. Alice was also named Vernon County Senior Citizen of the Year in 2002. Alice worked with her sister Hazel Rudie at the Coon Valley Sales Barn preparing amazing meals for several years. It was not uncommon for her to prepare two dozen pies for a one day auction. Beautiful memories remain with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and for this we thank our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Survivors include two children Linda (Gary) Johnson of Eau Claire and Lee (Laura) Nerison of Westby; 5 grandchildren Ryan J. Johnson of Eau Claire, Heather A. Johnson of Scottsdale, Ariz., Thea (Jerry) Johnson of La Crosse, Seri (Matt) Carl of La Crosse and Erin Nerison of Onalaska; 5 great grandchildren Maryn and James DeCremer, Archer and Madelyn Carl and Anja Johnson; a brother Verlin (Jan) Ihle; sisters-in-law Annette Ihle, Katherine Johnson and Orvella Nustad and many nieces, nephews friends and neighbors.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two great granddaughters Isabelle and Gwyneth; two sisters Gladys Stendahl and Hazel Rudie and a brother Oswald Ihle.

Alice lived her life in faith through thought, word and deed. God bless Alice and all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Tuesday November 13, 2012 at Vang Lutheran Church, rural Westby. Rev. Julie Wollman will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 5 to 7 pm at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Tuesday from 10 am until service time.
