Alvina M. "Venie" Krause

Alvina M. "Venie" Krause, 94, of Stoddard, died Monday May 14, 2012 at Hillview Health Care Center in La Crosse. She was born January 4, 1918 in Jefferson Township, Vernon County to Henry and Tilda (Nerison) Helgeson. Alvina was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Esofea. She was united in marriage to Glen Krause on November 1, 1941 at Bethany Lutheran Church by Rev. O.M. Kleven. The couple lived in Stoddard their entire married life. Alvina was a long time member of the Stoddard United Methodist Church and the Stoddard American Legion Auxiliary where she served as president for many years. She enjoyed working outside and flower gardening.

Survivors include 2 daughters Bonnie (Gordon) Stenslien and Linda (Dave) Venner both of Stoddard; 4 grandchildren Troy (Patti) Venner of Bettendorf, Iowa, Ryan (Nikki) Venner of Stoddard, Mandy (Damian) Weiland of Mauston and Steve (Heather) Stenslien of DeSoto; 8 great grandchildren Brock, Camryn, Kylee, Molly and Tyler Venner, Landon and Brooklyn Weiland and McKinley Stenslien; 6 sisters Louise Christianson, Hilda Dahlke, Mabel Groetsch, Anna Pedretti, Arlene (Francis) Furlano and Evenelle (Greg) Furlano; a brother Erling Helgeson; a sister-in-law Dorothy Helgeson and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glen in 1987, 2 grandchildren Todd Venner and Scott Stenslien; a sister Alice Payne and a brother Clarence Helgeson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday May 16, 2012 at the Stoddard United Methodist Church in Stoddard. Rev. Banze Kyabuntu Wa Kiluba and Rev. Lewis Lebakken will officiate with burial in the Stoddard Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be given to the Stoddard United Methodist Church.
