Ardella B. Role

Ardella B. Role, 89 formerly of La Crosse died Sunday October 11, 2020 at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby.  She was born August 30, 1931 near Cashton to Edward and Elsie (Lueck) Scharping.  She married Ellsworth Role on April 15, 1953 at First Portland Lutheran Church.  Ardella worked side by side with Ellsworth running Role’s Standard in La Crosse until retirement in 1984.  Together they did volunteer work at Gundersen Hospital.  She was a long time member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in La Crosse.  Ardella could never find a fault in anyone.

Survivors include 2 daughter, Susan (Randy) Hass of La Crosse and Denise (Charles) Schmitt of Coon Valley; grandchildren, Melissa Heinig (Brad Koenig) of Wausau, Aaron (Kara) Hass of La Crosse, Renee Ames (Scott Nicolai) of Osseo, Jolene (Sam) Balto of Westby, Taylor (Kody) Willis of Cashton and Travis Schmitt of Coon Valley; great grandchildren, Aubrey and Drew Hass, Brandon Ames, Cameron and Haley Nelson, Kylie and Abby Balto and Lily and Easton Willis; sisters, Dorothy Will, Janet Dunnum, Donna Urbanek and Ardice (Vernon) Urbanek; brother, Orval (Bernadine) Scharping; sisters-in-law, Marilyn and Louise Scharping and many special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ellsworth in 2003; sister, Verna Marx; brothers, Verdel and Vernon Scharping; brothers-in-law, Neal Will, Ronald Dunnum, Clinton Dunnum, Jim Urbanek, Art Marx and DeVerne Role.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday October 15, 2020 at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley. Please wear a mask.  Graveside services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at the First Portland Lutheran Cemetery near Cashton. Rev. Jonathan Rimmert will officiate.
