Arlin was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. He began farming at age 14 on the Manske home farm and farmed there all his life. Arlin met Delores Schultz at the Avalon Ballroom and they were married on November 7, 1950 at First Ev. Lutheran Church in La Crosse. They recently celebrated 67 years together.
Arlin loved his family and was very proud of their accomplishments. He loved Old Time Polka music and he and Delores enjoyed dancing together. Arlin liked raising tobacco, doing custom work for area farmers for many years and keeping a daily record book of events and farming. He received the Outstanding Young Farmer Award in 1959 and 2 Builder’s Awards from the Vernon County Co-op. He was still helping out on his son David’s farm using the Bobcat. Arlin was especially proud of the Manske farm being featured in National Geographic magazine in 1995.
He was active on many boards including the Vernon County Farm Bureau, Tobacco Pool Board, Chaseburg Creamery Board, Great Rivers FS Board and the St. Peter’s Church Council.
Survivors include his wife Delores; son David (Kathy); 5 grandchildren Dawn, Jill (fiancé Andrew Beckstrom), Darcy, Tony (Gabrielle) and Brian Manske; great grandchildren, Madison and Davynn; daughter-in-law Cindy Manske; a sister, Marian Koporetz and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son DuWayne and a sister Arliss.
