Barbara L. White

September 28, 1938 — January 28, 2018

Barbara L. White, 79, of Westby, passed away Sunday January 28, 2018 at the Bland-Bekkedal Center for Hospice in Viroqua. She was born September 28, 1938 in Chicago to Fred and Elenor Roeske. Barb married Earl White on November 27, 1955. In 1980, Earl, Barb and son Howard moved to their farm in Westby where she was a farm wife, mother, grandma and great grandma. One of her greatest joys was cooking and baking while enjoying her ever growing family. The great grandchildren fondly called her Grandma Great, which always put a twinkle in her eye. Her family and friends enjoyed her quick wit and sense of humor. Barb also liked watching the birds from her kitchen window and the coming and goings on the farm.

Survivors include her daughter Deborah Friese of Viroqua; son Howard (Shelly) White; 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren: Otto (Alicia) Friese and their children, Lee and Waylon, Becky (Tim) Solverson and their children, Andrew, Alex and a new arrival in March, Louie (Sara) Freise and their children, Jonathon, Lauren and Jenna and 3 step grandchildren, Adam, Jillian and Justin Leoni.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl in 1999; a son-in-law Jim Freise; sister and brother-in-law Carol (Bob) Loken and father and mother-in-law Clark and Marian White.

It was Barb's wishes for no funeral services. The Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley is assisting the family. Memorials may be given to the Bland-Bekkedal Center for Hospice. Barb's family is grateful for the wonderful and caring staff at the Bland-Bekkedal Center during the journey of her passing. Online condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com.
