Beatrice E. Johnson

Beatrice E. Johnson, 96, of Chaseburg, died Tuesday December 15, 2020 at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby. She was born November 7, 1924 to Magnus and Ragna (Kraabel) Stafslien.  She was baptized, confirmed and married at Middle Coon Valley Lutheran Church.  Beatrice married Orville Johnson on February 5, 1944. The couple farmed for many years in the town of Hamburg.  She later worked at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in housekeeping, retiring in 1989.

Beatrice loved spending time with family and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching baseball and football.

Beatrice was a lifelong member of Middle Coon Valley Lutheran Church and WELCA and a longtime member of the Chaseburg Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her children, Eugene (Bunnie) Johnson, Joan Heller, Bonnie (Dean) Peterson and Rick (Ethel) Johnson; a daughter-in-law, Donna Johnson; 11 grandchildren, Phillip (Joanne) Johnson, Lisa Bergum, Tom (Svala) Heller, Troy (Shannon) Johnson, Tina (Joe) Kagel, Josh (Carrie) Johnson, Jennifer Kolve, Nick Johnson, Emily (Cecil) Dayton and Brooke (Tyler) Verdon; 26 great grandchildren, Cole, Connor, Garret, Hallie, Tate, Jacob, Abby, Birna, Nicole, Alyssa, Hannah, Erica, TJ, Nicholas, Zach, Dylan, Alex, Thomas, Michaela, Allison, Jack, Mackena, Brekk, Haakon, Brody and Ricky.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Orville in 1995, son Michael, son-in-law, Marv Heller, 2 grandchildren, Andrew Peterson and Katelyn Johnson; 2 brothers, Myland and Jergen Stafslien and 2 sisters, Myra Stafslien and Doris Johnson.

A private funeral service will be held at the Middle Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Rev. Meg Eiben Hoversten will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.  The Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley is assisting the family. Condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com.
