Constance "Connie" Schultz, 80, of rural Chaseburg, died unexpectedly Thursday March 29, 2012 at her home. She was born in La Crosse February 8, 1932 to George and Maybelle (Beck) Student but was raised by her stepfather Willard DeRoucher and her mother Maybelle. Connie attended La Crosse schools and graduated from Central High School in 1949. She worked in the design department at the Trane Company until her marriage. Connie was united in marriage to Paul Schultz Jr. on February 20, 1952 at First Lutheran Church in La Crosse. They had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past February. The couple were lifelong farmers in Vernon County.
Connie loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and be outside on the farm, doing yard work and tending to her flowers. She enjoyed the many years of monthly breakfasts at Tippy Toe Inn with friends and the many bus trips her and Paul took over the years. She was a great cook for family and friends making sure everyone had plenty. Connie was also a wonderful caregiver especially for her husband Paul the past several years. She was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Friends of Chaseburg and the Chaseburg ladies birthday club.
Survivors include her husband Paul; 2 sons Ronald (Dayna) of Coon Valley and Richard (Nan Jean) of Chaseburg; 3 grandchildren Jon (Melissa) Schultz of Pleasant Valley, Iowa, David (Erika) Schultz of Belleville and Becky (Ben) Eitland of Viroqua; 2 great grandchildren Sawyer and Mikayla Schultz; a brother-in-law Gerald Schultz of Chaseburg and a sister-in-law Corrine (Ron) Kapanke of Waukesha and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister Colleen Anderson; a brother-in-law Alvin Schultz and 2 sisters-in-law Marilyn and Beatrice Schultz.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday April 1, 2012 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. Rev. Steven Oldre will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Sunday from noon until service time.
