Donald “Congo” Ray Myhre, 80, went home to Jesus on March 7, 2020 in Chaseburg. He did not lose his battle, the cancer didn’t win - he gained his greatest reward, eternal life in heaven where he is now and forever at peace.
Don was born in Chaseburg to Harold and Ida (Carson) Myhre on April 7, 1939. He attended Chaseburg grade school and Westby High School. He married Lois Marie Berg on April 4, 1970 in Schofield. He worked as a Customer Service Agent for Northwest Airlines for 37 years. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1959-63. One of his most fulfilling jobs was as custodian for St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church for almost 40 years. A Servants Heart and that job filled his heart with so much joy.
Survivors include his wife of almost 50 years, Lois; 2 daughters, Jennifer and Shawn Ward; Jill Dahlke and Kurt Salverson; 7 grandchildren, Cole Dahlke (fiancé Rebecca), Austin Schroeder, McKenzie and Hayden Berent, Savannah Dahlke, Joshua Dahlke, Kyle Ward and Grace Ward; 3 great grandchildren which were his pride and joy, Payton, Liam and Delilah; his twin sister, Doris Castro and sister Marlene (Rich) Emiley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, LaVerne and Dennis Myhre and a sister, Bonnie Kendall.
Casket bearers will be his grandchildren, Cole Dahlke, Austin Schroeder, McKenzie Berent, Hayden Berent, Savannah Dahlke, Joshua Dahlke, Kyle Ward and Grace Ward. They will take one last walk with Grampa.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday March 12, 2020 at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chaseburg with Rev. Steven Oldre officiating. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time. Condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com.
A very special thanks to our 2 angels on earth, Kathy Trussoni, who will forever be a part of our family and DeAnna, dad's hospice nurse. We could not have done this without you 2 special ladies.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Croix Hospice in memory of our dad.
