Donna M. Urbanek

Donna M. Urbanek, 86, of Cashton, died Monday August 28, 2023 at Benedictine Manor in La Crosse. She was born August 10, 1937 to Eddie and Elsie (Lueck) Scharping. She graduated from Cashton High School in 1955. Donna married Clinton Dunnum on June 20 1956. The couple farmed together until he died February 22, 1985. She then married James Urbanek on May 22, 1993. He died July 1st 2008. Donna worked at Newburg Corners Cheese Factory followed by Northern Engraving where she retired in 2004.

Donna was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bangor. She enjoyed cooking, word searches and puzzles. She was famous for her apple pies, frosted sugar cookies and making family birthday cakes.

Survivors include her children, Loren (Mary) Dunnum, Linda (Curt) Stakston, Ivan (Diane) Dunnum, Curtis (Peggy) Dunnum and Dorene (Ron) Hobart; 14 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Will, Janet Dunnum and Ardice (Vernon) Urbanek; sisters-in-law, Bernadine Scharping, Lou Ann (Mark) Jelinek and Jeanette (Les) Zebell and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a grandchild in infancy; a great grandchild, Aberianna; siblings, Orval Scharping, Verdel (Marilyn) Scharping, Vernon (Louise) Scharping; Verna (Arthur) Marx and Ardella (Ellsworth) Role; brothers-in-law, Neal Will, Milan (Alice) Dunnum and Ronald Dunnum.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday September 1, 2023 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bangor. Burial will be in the First Portland Lutheran Cemetery, rural Cashton. A visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until service time.
