Dorothy J. Michel, 94, of Stoddard passed away gracefully of natural causes Sunday, January 24, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Chaseburg on October 13, 1926 to Jesse and Emma (Lamprich) Bluske. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. Dorothy graduated from Viroqua High School in 1945. In her early years, Dorothy worked at Trane Company. On May 10, 1950 she married Lloyd Michel in Chaseburg. Dorothy was a member of St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where she actively served in the Ladies Aid and the flower guild for many years.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd; brothers, Raymond and Willard Bluske; sister, Alice Peterson; and great-granddaughter, Margaret Ashford. Her survivors include her children, Larry (Mary) Michel of Dubuque, IA, LaRae (Neil) Wakefield of Kansas City, KS, Loren Michel of Stoddard and Lynn (Michael) Hanson of Genoa; 7 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stoddard. Pastor Silas Schmitzer will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 for viewing. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. The family requests memorials to St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stoddard. The Seland Funeral Home, Coon Valley is assisting the family.
