Emma W. Bouffleur, 102, formerly of Chaseburg, died Sunday January 25, 2015 at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center in La Crosse. She was born December 3, 1912 to Carl and Emma (Runge) Kuester in the Town of Harmony, Vernon County. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. On November 7, 1936 she married William Fay Bouffleur at St. Peter's Parsonage by Rev. E.H. Palechek.
Emma worked at the Chaseburg Post Office for 6 years until 1937. Later she worked for 14 years with her husband as custodian at the Chaseburg Elementary School, retiring in 1982. Emma was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church and served as treasurer of the Ladies Aid and Chaseburg Legion Auxiliary for many years.
Survivors include a daughter Yvonne Isbell; a son Bruce (Susan) Bouffleur both of La Crosse; 2 granddaughters, Susan (Frank) Bunker of Milwaukee and Kimberly (Keith) Krejchik of West Salem; 1 great grandson Ivan Purgill, 2 great granddaughters Emily and Ella Krejchik and 3 step great grandsons, Connor, Garrison and Christian Bunker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William Fay Bouffleur in 2004, a son-in-law George Isbell, 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
Funeral services will be at 11a.m. Thursday January 29, 2015 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. Rev. Steven Oldre will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be given to St. Peter's Church.
