Emmett T. Clements

Emmett T. Clements, 96, of rural Stoddard passed away after a short illness Monday May 16, 2011 at the Onalaska Care Center. He was born September 2, 1914 to Albert and Marie (Veriede) Clements in Holmen. He lived there until the age of eleven when his family moved to Stoddard. Emmett married Violet "Nerine" North on August 20, 1938 and she passed away in June of 1988. Emmett farmed and did custom work for many years. He was also patrolman for the town of Bergen for many years before retiring in 1992. Emmett was a member of the Lower Coon Valley Lutheran Church.

Survivors include 3 children Janet Kay Asp of La Crosse, Beverly Jean (Howard) Everson of Onalaska and Kenneth Duane Clements of Stoddard; 7 grandchildren Steven (Sue) Asp of La Crosse, Sandra (Ty) Earp of Onalaska, Eric Everson of Holmen, Beth (James) Jacobson of West Salem and Craig (Carie) Everson of Lake Hallie, Aaron Clements of Viroqua and Brent Clements of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; 16 great grandchildren Brian Asp of Platteville, Kaylin Asp of La Crosse, Ian and Danielle Earp of Onalaska, Emily and Alec Everson of Holmen, Cierra, Larissa, Anna and Mya Jacobson of West Salem, Chase, Brehana, Haliah and Mhaddalyn Everson of Lake Hallie, Mikaylyn and Emmett Clements of Viroqua; one sister Louise Hill of La Crescent, Minn.; 3 sisters-in-law Joyce Retherford of Warren, Indiana, Ruby Peterson of Bradenton, Florida and Vivian (Ken) Gribi of LaCrosse and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nerine; 2 brothers Harold and La Verne Clements; his father and mother-in-law Chester and Millie Clements; brother-in-law Jack Hill; sister-in-law Margaret Clements and son-in-law Fred Asp.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday May 19, 2011 at the Lower Coon Valley Lutheran Church, rural Stoddard. Rev. Donald Fox will officiate with burial in St. Matthew's Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be given to the Lower Coon Valley Lutheran Church or the charity of choice.
