EvaLea F. Bolstad

EvaLea F. Bolstad, 77, of La Crosse went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018 at Bethany Riverside Nursing Home Lighthouse.

EvaLea was born on April 17, 1940 in Vernon County, WI to Asa and Mildred (Schlottman) Snell.  She graduated from De Soto High School in 1958.  EvaLea married Arnold J. Bolstad on June 21, 1958 at Viroqua United Methodist Church.  EvaLea worked 31 years for the USDA.  She started as a clerk in Viroqua then was promoted to Assistant Supervisor in La Crosse County then became La Crosse County Supervisor. EvaLea was the second woman in the State of Wisconsin to become a FmHA County Supervisor.  She transferred to Grants, NM as the County Supervisor and then to Los Lunas, NM.  In 1988, she became an USDA Administrative Law Judge. She retired in 1997.

EvaLea loved to cook and bake with her grandkids that she loved so much. They enjoyed camping, traveling, playing board games, cards, bowling, and watching baseball. They were 4-H leaders for many years.  She also was a Hospice volunteer.  But most important was her walk with God.  EvaLea volunteered in many capacities in the churches she was involved in.

EvaLea is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Arnold; children, Renita (Ray) Williamson, Coon Valley, Laureen Price, Onalaska, Teresa (Lorn) Goede, Viroqua, Lamont (Tammy) Bolstad, Montello, Wendell (finance Miranda Wolff) Bolstad, Mankato MN; 14 grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Alicia Bolstad.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in La Crosse.  Rev. Harald Bringsjord will officiate with burial in the Stoddard Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and also at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time.
