Everett G. Olson, 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Viroqua, on September 3, 2024.
Everett was born in La Crosse on August 31, 1939, to Sidney and Mabel (Ambrosen) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed at Coon Valley Lutheran Church. He graduated from Cashton High School in 1957. Following graduation, Everett proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp.
On November 4, 1965, Everett married Elizabeth Galicia, and they raised three children, Stephanie, John, and Ellen. After Elizabeth passed away in 2003, Everett married Nancy Berger on February 13, 2005.
Everett leaves behind his wife Nancy, his daughters Stephanie and Ellen, his stepsons Dean and David, 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and his sister-in-law Donna and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dick and Nancy. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, John, as well as his sister, Marilyn, and brothers Conrad, Arlyn and Monroe.
Through the years, Everett provided for his family by working in construction and maintenance, and he was proud of his service as a police officer and Chief of Police. Everett loved working with his hands and especially enjoyed farming the home farm in Bohemian Valley. He also enjoyed going to auctions and restoring his treasures such as antique cars, horse-drawn buggies, sleighs, and farm equipment.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time. Pastor Joe Corbin will officiate. Burial will be in the Coon Valley Lutheran church cemetery with military honors by the Coon Valley American Legion Post #116. The Seland Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family. Condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com.
Memorials may be directed to Gundersen Health System Hospice. Everett’s family thanks all the staff at Gundersen for the compassionate care they provided.
