Evonell "Dell" Corrine (Nestingen) Frydenlund, 86, of Oak Creek, WI, died Friday, May 30, 2014 at Mitchell Manor in Oak Creek. She was born January 16, 1928 in Coon Valley, to Julian and Gina (Gronvold) Nestingen. She graduated from La Crosse Central High School. On August 9, 1947 she married her favorite dance partner, Marvin Frydenlund, at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. She then received her "PhT" (Put husband Thru) degree in 1950 when Marvin graduated from San Jose State Univ. in California. The couple later lived in the North Barrington and Harvard Illinois area where they raised 3 daughters. Evonell worked as an interior decorator, then as a commercial artist for her husband's public relations business. She was a self-taught archeologist and historian. She discovered fossils and collected antiques. Her passion was Native American history and she had a great love for nature. Evonell was the co-founder of the Harvard Illinois Historical Society and History Museum. She also was a member of the Ladies of the Moose Lodge and Harvard Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include Evonell's 3 daughters, Bona (Bob) Olson of Oak Creek, Valerie Frydenlund and Tara (Dave) Schreck of Columbia, SC. , 8 grandchildren, Erik, Brittany (Scott), Evan (Elizabeth), Korina, Leif, Tadj (Nathanael), Syrene (Scott) and Sonja, 11 great grandchildren, a sister, June Weller, brother Richard (Geraldine) Nestingen and many other family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Virgil and Jerry Nestingen and her sister Lorraine.
