Gerald "Jerry" M. Midtlien, 78, of Chaseburg, died Friday August 20, 2010 at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center in La Crosse. He was born June 29, 1932 in Chaseburg to Norman and Hazel (Lenser) Midtlien. Jerry was baptized, confirmed and a lifelong member at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. He married Donna Wolfe in June of 1961 and they were later divorced. He then married Mary (Ostreng) Amann on December 26, 1981 in Chaseburg. Jerry worked at American Motors in Kenosha for several years and then at Norplex in La Crosse for 30 years before retiring in 1997. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; 3 children Julie (Roger) Ross of La Crosse, Jeff (Amy) Midtlien of Westby and Chad (Vickie) Midtlien of Chaseburg; 5 step children, Vickie (Steve) Davis of Stoddard, Gordon (Kim) Amann of Rockford, Illinois, Tom (Norma) Amann of Oswego, Illinois, Peggy (Mike) Luckhurst of St. John's, Michigan and Paul Amann of Coon Valley; 7 grandchildren; 23 step grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a brother Howard (Joanne) Midtlien of Chaseburg; an aunt Alice Hundt of La Crosse and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother-in-law Beverly and Ray Hass, a nephew Larry Hass and a step grandson Matthew Davis.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday August 24, 2010 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. Rev. Steven Oldre will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time.
