Grace M. Nordstrom

Grace M. Nordstrom, 91, of La Crosse and formerly of Coon Valley, died Monday January 12, 2015 at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center in La Crosse where she has resided since September 2012. She was born May 19, 1923 in Coon Valley to William and Lydia Struxness. Grace married Clinton "Swede" Nordstrom on December 8, 1945 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Esofea and they made their home in Coon Valley. She attended Brown School and graduated from Westby High School in 1941. She was homecoming queen in 1940. In her early years, Grace attended La Crosse Beauty School but most of her years were spent as a homemaker. She was a member of the Coon Valley Lutheran Church and WELCA, loved watching baseball, especially the Brewers, and made the best coconut cream pie in the world.


Survivors include 3 children, Bruce (Karen) of La Crosse and their children Todd (Florencia) and Ryan Nordstrom; Cheryl Gausepohl of Deland, Florida and children Tina (Wally) Hernandez and Trey Colbert; Greta Loudin of Warner Robins, Georgia and children Sara (Brad) Spinks and Ty Loomis; 3 great grandchildren, Sienna and Lucas Nordstrom and Brianna Hernandez; a sister, Lenore Henley; 2 sisters-in-law Donna Nordstrom and Corrine Granno; 2 nieces Gloria Freitag and Pam (Jim) Kohlmeier; 4 nephews Carl "Kip", Colin, and Marc Nordstrom and Leonard Dunwoody.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clinton in 1982, brother Burton Struxness, sisters-in-law Serena Kamza and Nancy Rutz, brothers-in-law Charles Nordstrom and Gordon Henley and an aunt Alida Owings.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday January 17, 2015 at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Rev. Mitzi Miyamoto will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be given to the Coon Valley Lutheran Church.
