Grace N. Peterson

Grace N. Peterson, 93, of Westby was welcomed into heaven on January 5, 2025 after living a full and blessed life.

 Grace was born on the Buros Family farm in September of 1931. She was the youngest of Julia and Nordahl Buros’ five children. Grace attended South Natwick Country School before going to Westby for high school. After attending vocational school in La Crosse, she worked at Trane Company from 1950 to1966. 

 In June of 1957, Grace married Roger B. Peterson. Their son, Carl, was born in 1966. Grace stayed home with Carl during his school years. Later, Grace worked for the Viroqua Housing Authority as the Tenant Services Coordinator. Additionally, Grace clerked Social Security Disability hearings in La Crosse until she retired in 2008.

 Grace was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Westby. In 1993, she chose to worship with her family at the Viroqua Church of Christ. Grace made the decision to be baptized in 1997 committing her life and service to the Lord. Her ministry to her friends and family continued through her last days. She prayed fervently for many people and was wise counsel to those who came to see her. Grace softly and earnestly challenged many into deeper relationships with Jesus. If you hadn’t met The Savior yet, Grace was more than willing to introduce you to Him. She gracefully lived her faith every day.

 Grace was preceded in death by her parents Julia & Nordahl Buros, all of her siblings and her husband, Roger.

 Grace leaves behind her ‘kids’ Carl and MaryPat, her grandkids, Leah, Eric and Annette, her niece, Dorothy Stoffregen and her nephew, William Buros, her ‘sisters’ and best friends, Barb and Tiara, her ‘boys’, Mike, Chris, Arvid, Scott and John, her Storbakken ‘kids’, Patti and Jim and many, many more people she adopted as her own. She loved all of you.

 Thank you to Dr. Calkins and the Bland Clinic crew for your years of care of Grace. Maria Fredrickson NP, Bobby Jo RN, Shannon RN and the staff on Floor 3 and 6 at Gundersen Hospital thank you for your tender care of Grace and for loving her family and ‘the entourage’.  A funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday January 10, 2025, at the Viroqua Church of Christ with a visitation from 4 p.m. until service time. Private burial will be in the Middle Coon Valley Lutheran Cemetery. The Seland Funeral Home is assisting the family. Condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com.
