Harland (Hod) B. Johnson, 86, of La Crosse, WI passed away on October 17, 2017 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. Harland was born on May 28th, 1931 to Harry and Collie (DeWitt) Johnson on their home farm in Vernon County, Wisconsin. Harland married Vila (Macy) Ostreng on February 9th, 1952. They settled in La Crosse where they raised their four children. After serving in the Korean War, Harland enjoyed a long career as a short-haul semi driver. Throughout his life, Harland enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing, playing cards, painting, and gardening, and his cat Winky.
Harland is survived by his wife of 65 years, Vila (Macy); four children, son Toby (Sandy) Johnson of La Crosse and three daughters, Sharon Sebion of Stoddard, WI, Nancy (Rick) Hagen of Plover, WI, Jill Gorell of La Crosse WI; nine grandchildren, Tim and Aaron Johnson, Doug Sebion, Erika (Bill) Luthy, Angie (Brent) Byrd, Tami (Brad) Schneider, Craig Hagen, Rachel and Noah Gorell; six great-grandchildren Quinn and Claudia Luthy, Marley, Mackenzie and Addison Schneider, and Payten Hagen; two siblings, brother Stub (Diane) Johnson and sister Janus Nundahl.
Harland was preceded in death by his parents, his infant brother Byron, and brother-in-law Donny Nundahl.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, October 22nd at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church on 16th and Park Avenue in La Crosse, WI. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.Visits: 5
