Harley A. Ostrem, 84, of rural Chaseburg, died Friday June 29, 2018 at his home. He was born February 28, 1934 in Vernon County to Martin and Alma (Myhre) Ostrem. He married Gloria Rumsey on October 18, 1955. Harley served in the US Army. He worked for the Swift Company in La Crosse until they closed and then Great Lakes Cheese until his retirement. Harley was a member of the Lower Coon Valley Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria; 2 sons, Steven (Laura) of Montezuma, Iowa and Mark (Lynn) of Chaseburg; 4 grandchildren, Mike, Robert, Elizabeth and Benjamin Ostrem; 1 great grandchild, Zaidyn Ostem; 1 brother Gene (Mary) Ostrem, 2 sisters, Betty Elson and Judy Warner; a sister-in-law, Mary (Ed) Burke; a brother-in-law, Arvid (Betty) Rumsey and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Vaughn; and 3 sisters, Jan, Sandy and Nancy.
A memorial visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday July 6, 2018 at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley with a prayer service at 6 p.m. officiated by Rev. Donald Fox. Burial will be in the Lower Coon Valley Lutheran Cemetery. Online condolences may be offered at selandsfuneralhome.com.
