Inez M. Beck

Inez M. Beck, 90, of Onalaska and formerly of Coon Valley, died Saturday December 7, 2024 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse after a sudden illness. She was born September 10, 1934 to Julius and Amelia (Amdahl) Olson in Norwegian Valley, Nelson, Wisconsin. She was a member and baptized at Lyster Lutheran Church, Nelson WI. She attended country school and graduated from Nelson High School in 1952. She attended Normal School and a year at Winona followed by teaching at a country school. Inez married the love of her life, Raymond Beck, on June 26, 1955. Ray and Inez spent 3 years teaching at Richland, Montana before moving to Coon Valley. Inez spent her career as an assistant at Coon Valley Elementary School.

Inez was a proud mom to 4 children, James (Marsha) Beck of Burnett WI, John (Becky) Beck of Stoughton WI, Connie (Douglas) Fornberg of Isanti MN and Brenda (Douglas) Bruha of Onalaska WI; grandchildren Kathryn (Anthony) Galston of Stoughton WI, Caroline Beck of Stoughton WI, Johanna Fornberg (Sebastian Stratan) of Washington DC, Zoe Fornberg of Chicago IL and Madelyne Beck (Branden Metzler) of Janesville WI and great grandchildren, Cassius Galston and Eliza Galston.

Her main love and goal was to raise her children to be good, God fearing, honest and decent people. Her children carried these eternal values and raised their families in the same spirit. Her friends and family will forever miss her tenderness and good-humored nature. Her kindness inspired others, she was loving and loved in return.

Through her life she loved to cook and bake. During her retirement years in Coon Valley, she spent countless hours volunteering at Coon Valley Lutheran Church (Circle and WELCA) and the Bethel Butikk Thrift Shop. She enjoyed being in the Coon Valley Garden Club and will also be remembered for her interest and fundraising for the Knutson Memorial (Coon Valley) Library. Her loved of reading is something that she will always be known for. She would make sure that she made time to have coffee with friends or have a bus tour adventure and while always making sure they had books to read.

She enjoyed reading, writing letters/journaling, singing in the choir and watching TV (especially the cooking channel) during her time at Eagle Crest Assisted Living.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond (2007), her parents, sister (Julaine) and brother (Kenneth). She is survived by younger sister Charlet who was always there for her. As sisters they were very close throughout their lives. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
