James “Jim” E. Matysik, 87 years, 5 months and 7 days, passed peacefully at home on January 22, 2025. He was born to Edward and Gladys Matysik in Black River Falls, WI. Jim and his wife Marilyn were married June 15, 1957 in Fairchild, WI. They moved to Waukesha, where Jim worked as the Production Manager for Engineering Products for 20 years. In that time, they were blessed with 2 wonderful children, Cynthia and Jeffrey. They then purchased the beautiful Hickory Hills Campground in Edgerton, WI, which they owned for many years. They retired to the Chaseburg, WI area where Jim was able to fulfill his lifelong hobby of raising, training and showing Quarter horses. He spent many happy hours while on the back of his horses.
Jim is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marilyn, daughter Cynthia and her husband Richard Poff; 3 grandchildren, Richard (Kelly) Poff, Kristina (Mathew) Hemenway, and Kimberly (Michael) Ackmann; 13 great grandchildren, Ashley, Aarin, Alex, Adam, Alyssa, Aleah, Ryan (Makenzie), Evan, Gavin, Keean, Quinn, Mason and Lincoln; his sister, Patricia and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and Marilyn’s parents, their son Jeffrey, and his sister Janice and husband Neil.
A visitation will be held Wednesday January 29, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley. Condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Jim’s team of hospice care workers, with special thanks to Jason.
