John E. Nerison

John E. Nerison, 90, of Coon Valley died Thursday evening June 20, 2013 at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby. He was born October 26, 1922 in the Town of Coon to Oscar and Olga (Haugen) Nerison. He served in the U.S. Navy from October 12, 1942 to November 3, 1944. John married Virginia Rybarczyk on February 21, 1949 at St. Joseph's Ridge Catholic Church. John began cattle buying in Coon Valley and built the Coon Valley Auction Market in 1960 and also farmed for many years. He kept working at the Auction Market up until 2 years ago. John was a member of the Coon Valley American Legion Post #116.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia; 3 sons John Jr. of Iowa, Dennis (Becky) and Daniel (Julie) both of rural Westby; 4 grandchildren, Angela (Aaron) Mithum of Viroqua, Abby (Eric) Lehman, Christa Nerison and Hailey Nerison all of Westby; 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday June 24, 2013 at the Vang Lutheran Church, rural Westby. Rev. Dennis Hallemeier will officiate with burial at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, rural Coon Valley. Friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be given to the Coon Valley American Legion Post #116.
