Jon E. Wemette

Jon E. Wemette, 53, of La Crosse, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 2, 2022 at Gundersen Health System Palliative Care. Jon passed away from complications of a paralyzing stroke suffered May 2021.

He was born to Harold and Linda (Olson) Wemette on April 25, 1968. Jon was baptized at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in La Crosse and confirmed at Coon Valley Lutheran Church in Coon Valley. He grew up in Coon Valley and graduated from Westby High School in 1986. Jon loved the farm and working there. He later worked at manufacturing jobs. His passions and interest were card, auto racing, NASCAR, fishing, and sports. He loved the Green Bay Packers, Brewers and Badgers. Jon himself was very athletic, good looking and buff in his younger years.

Jon is survived by his parents, Harold and Linda Wemette; his sister, Julie (Joe Jr.) Kauss; sons, Jacob and Justin Wemette and their mother, Donna Wemette; daughters, Jade and Karly Wemette and their mother, Carol Mott; granddaughters, Aliyah Wemette, Layla Wemette, and Auri Wemette; nephews, Joe Kauss III and Jamison Kauss and their families; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jim; grandparents, Leo and Leona Olson and William “Bill” and Betty Wemette and uncles Gary and Roger “Barney” Wemette.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday January 16, 2022 at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley. A visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until service time. Condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com.
