Joseph Dowiasch

Joseph Dowiasch, 87, of La Crosse, died Tuesday March 20, 2018 at his home. He was born December 19, 1930 in La Crosse County to William and Verna (Bahr) Dowiasch.  On February 5, 1955 he married Vernelgene Oelke in La Crosse.  The couple farmed most of their married life in the town of Shelby.  Joseph enjoyed gardening, canning and was an excellent cook.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Sharon Brink and her special friend Joseph Gilbertson of La Crosse and Karla (Malcolm) Miller of Paducah, Kentucky; a granddaughter Loretta Miller of Paducah, Kentucky; a brother Sylvester (Le Ilah) Dowiasch of Hatfield; several nieces and nephews and special friends Virginia Harrison of Melbourne, Florida and Mary and Jon Rinehart of Onalaska.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Vernelgene in 1995 and a sister Mary.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 to 1 p.m. Saturday March 24 at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley. Private burial will be in the Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery in Mormon Coulee.
