Juanita M. Role

Juanita M. Role, 81, of Coon Valley, died Sunday May 23, 2010 at Vernon Manor in Viroqua where she had been a resident the past 2 years. She was born July 6, 1928 to Helmer and Martha (Linrud) Hasley in La Crosse. Juanita was baptized and confirmed at the Middle Coon Valley Lutheran Church, rural Chaseburg.

Juanita married Edgar Role on September 3, 1948 at Middle Coon Valley Lutheran Church. The couple farmed their married life in the town of Hamburg. They moved to Coon Valley in 1986. Juanita enjoyed working outside with Edgar on the farm. She also did housecleaning in the Westby area for many years and worked at the Tobacco Warehouse in Viroqua for over 10 years. She was a member of the Middle Coon Valley Lutheran Church where she was active in her circle and quilting.

Survivors include one daughter Yvonne (Rod) Sherry of DeForest; one son Keith (Brit) Role of Viroqua; 2 grandchildren Jennifer Sherry of Madison and James (Jamie) Role of Middleton; 2 step grandchildren Laura Pedretti and Kristi Davidson both of La Crosse; 4 step great grandchildren Matthew, Rachael, Rebecca and Marissa Pedretti; one sister-in-law Inez Myhre of Westby and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edgar on May 19, 1993 and a sister Mildred Kirking.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday May 26, 2010 at the Middle Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Rev. Dan Wollman will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be given to Vernon Manor or the Middle Coon Valley Lutheran Church.
