Lester Lacey King, 92, passed away peacefully Monday March 17, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse. He was born March 25, 1921 in Marinette County, Wisconsin to Lacey and Emma (Jeronek) King. He married Shirley Stark on April 26, 1952 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The couple farmed at rural Stoddard for 6 years before Lester went to work for the Trane Co. as a welder. He retired in 1985 after 31 years.
Lester was a member of the Stoddard United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Stoddard Lions Club and was active as a scout master of the Stoddard Boy Scout Troop #111 for many years. He enjoyed traveling, RV camping, hunting and gardening. Lester loved his "million dollar" view of the Mississippi River with all of its activities and wildlife.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Shirley; 4 sons Keith (Chris) of Tomah, Kenneth of Chaseburg, Kermit (Jody) of La Crosse and Kelly (Judy) of Stoddard; 9 grandchildren, Karen (Jeff) Nelson, Stacey (Brandon) Revels, Leslie (Tom) Fell, Jill, John (Lisa) ,Adam, Nicholas, Ben and Jessica King; 7 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and 4 sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday March 22, 2014 at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley with Rev. Banze Kyabuntu officiating. Friends may call from noon until service time at the funeral home.Visits: 4
