Lillian M. Volden

Lillian M. Volden, 87, died Sunday December 13, 2009 at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby where she had been a resident since April. The past 8 years she had lived at the Bothne House in Coon Valley. She was born August 8, 1922 to Willie and Inga (Hage) Bjorge at home in Coon Township, Vernon County. Lillian was baptized, confirmed and a lifelong member at Vang Lutheran Church. On June 14, 1944 she married Denver Ramsett in Baltimore, Maryland. She then married Purdy Volden on October 2, 1976. He died January 19, 1999.

Lillian worked at Hillview Health Care Center in La Crosse for 10 years before retiring. She enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers, playing cards, traveling and being with family.

Survivors include one son Dennis (Barbara) Ramsett of Janesville; one grandson Steven Ramsett of Arlington, TX; 2 great granddaughters Abbigail and Ashley Ramsett; a sister Irene Larson of Coon Valley; a brother Lester Bjorge of Del City, OK and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by 4 brothers Joel, Willard, Albert and Glenn and one sister Avis Strom.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday December 17, 2009 at Vang Lutheran Church, rural Westby with Rev. Julie Wollman officiating. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be given to Vang Lutheran Church.
