Lucile A. Kumm

Lucile Anna Kumm, 98, of Coon Valley, passed away at Gundersen Heath System on Wednesday, December 28, 2016. She was born to Anna (Sedevie) and Joseph Silha on April 6, 1918 in Bowman, North Dakota, the third of six children. She married Lloyd Kumm on May 20, 1952 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Coon Valley. They lived in La Crosse until 1961, when they purchased a farm near Stoddard. Lucile worked for many years at Rocky's Supper Club. She was active in the Coon Valley American Legion Auxiliary, Sr. Mary's Altar Society, and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church until the time of her death. Lucile enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, cooking, and baking. She loved and was dearly loved by her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Marilyn (Marv) Nordquist of Hayward, Wisconsin, Brian (Karen) Kumm of Algona, Iowa, Catherine Saari of Farmington, Minnesota, and Neil Kumm of Coon Valley, Wisconsin. Nine Grandchildren: Anna Taylor of Madison, Wisconsin, Steve (Renee) Nordquist of Hayward, Wisconsin, Matthew Nordquist (Justine Harris) of Madison, Wisconsin, Ryya and Logan Kumm of Winter Garden, Florida, Ian Saari (FiancAC.e Christine Avery) Farmington, Minnesota, Elsa Marden (Tyler) of Laurel, Maryland, Brianna and Travis Kumm of La Crosse, Wisconsin. Three great grandchildren: Sierra and Nikolas Nordquist, Hayward, Wisconsin, and Evan Nordquist, Madison, Wisconsin. Two step grandchildren: Aaron Rosenblum of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and Eli Rosenblum of Madison, Wisconsin. Special niece Jan Larson of La Crosse, Wisconsin, one sister-in-law Corky Silha of Glendive, Montana, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, an infant son, her parents, sister Elsie, Brother-in-law Tom Whittet, brother Elmer Silha, sister-in-law Verna, brother Vernon (Bud) Silha, sister-in-law Agnes, brother Russ Silha, sister-in-law Fran, brother Earl (Red) Silha, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Howard and Genevieve Kumm, niece Shirley Mortenson, and nephews Ken Silha, Tom Silha, and Lee Silha.

Lucile lived the last 2 A½ years of her life at the Bothne House in Coon Valley. The family wishes to express appreciation to the staff at the Bothne House for their loving care and friendship. The family also expresses sincere appreciation to the 6th floor staff at Gundersen Health System for their care and support during her last days.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday December 31, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Coon Valley. Rev. Joseph Arokiam and Rev. Maria Dass will concelebrate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley with a rosary service at 7 p.m. and at the church on Saturday after 10 a.m. Online condolences may be offered at selandsfuneralhome.com. Memorials may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
