Marjorie A. Olson

Marjorie Ann “Margie” (Meir) Olson 81, of La Crosse, died unexpectedly Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.   Margie was born in La Crosse on April 7, 1937 to Paul and Bernice (Johnson) Meir.  Margie graduated from La Crosse Central in 1955.  She married John Gary Olson on May 25th, 1957.  Margie was a favorite waitress at many eating establishments in the La Crosse area including the Chop House, the Pancake House, Walts, and many years at Johnnie’s Bar and Restaurant.  She also worked at the Circus Bar which was owned by her parents.  Margie was the kindest person ever.  She always put everyone else’s needs above her own.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She liked to ride her bike around town and also volunteered for RSVP.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Eagle Crest South and Dr. Mary Bassing for their special care.

Survivors include four sons: Tim (Sherry) Olson, Dave (Ann) Olson, Greg and Ben Olson and one daughter Carie Olson.  She is also survived by six grandchildren: Chelsie and Courtney Kraus, Kelsie, Evan, Wyatt, and Madelyn Olson.  She is also survived by three sisters Carolyn (Whit) Whitfield of Arizona, Linda (Joe) Itule of Arizona, and Susan (Bill) Riley of Washington, and one brother Gary (Brenda) Meir of Arizona.

Margie was preceded in death by her husband, J. Gary Olson, who died exactly one week before her.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Bea Meir.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 8th at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley with a visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.  Rev. Ted Dewald will officiate with burial in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park.  Memorials may be directed to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
