Merlin V. Lenser

July 24, 1949 — November 15, 2020

Merlin V. Lenser, 71, of rural Coon Valley, died Sunday November 15, 2020 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.  He was born July 24, 1949 in La Crosse to Melvin and Ruth (Bendel) Lenser.  He graduated from Logan High School in 1967. Merlin then served in the U.S. Army until June 1969. He farmed for a short time on the home farm. Merlin worked for Pyroil in La Crosse for 25 years followed by Star Transport in Illinois.  He was a member of the Moose Lodge in La Crosse, the Coon Valley American Legion and the Hamburg Lutheran Church where he served on the church council. He enjoyed riding his ATV, gardening, canning and woodworking.

Survivors include his son, Melvin (Cindy) Lenser of La Crosse and a daughter, Jamie Lenser of Lakeland, Florida; 4 grandchildren, Kaylee, Kaitlyn, Brooklyn and Logan; 6 sisters, Linda Head, Virginia Kurtz of Holmen, Martha Wood of Rapid City, S.D., Ruth Hartley (fiancé Jim Peck) of La Crosse, Evelyn (James) Harduvel of Phoenix, MD and Ann (Steve) Gilbertson of Chaseburg and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday November 19 at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley.  Graveside services will be held on Friday at the Hamburg Lutheran Church Cemetery with Rev. Steven Oldre officiating.  Condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com.
