Mildred G. Leisso

Mildred G. Leisso, 93, of rural Stoddard went to her heavenly home Wednesday June 18, 2014 at Mayo Health System - Franciscan Healthcare in LaCrosse. She was born May 4, 1921 to Herman and Minnie (Bray) Schroeder at rural Chaseburg. Mildred was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. She married Earl Leisso at St. Peter's on June 19, 1940. The couple farmed the Leisso family farm their married life. From her childhood on, Mildred milked cows for 70 years. She was a wonderful cook and baker and enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. Mildred was a faithful member of St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stoddard and was an active member of the Ladies Aid.

Survivors include 4 children, Philip (Karel) and John both of Stoddard, Lou Ann Farley of Trempealeau and Carolyn (Gary) Jacobson of Viroqua; 13 grandchildren, Darcie (Steve) Kirsch, Desirae Bailey, Robert (Melissa), Dara (David) Monical, Danielle (Jeff) Meinholz, Angela (Bill) Gneiser, Renae (Jay) Wickham, Lisa Gabrielson, Bonnie Gabrielson, Nathan (Stephanie) Leisso, Sara (Rob Turner) Leisso, Rachel Leisso and Miriam (Tim) Pohlar; 19 great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Lorraine Schroeder of Westby and Grace Schroeder of Onalaska and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; 1 sister Frieda Bluske and 3 brothers Harold, Edgar and Arnold Schroeder.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday June 24, 2014 at St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stoddard. Rev. Phillip Arnold will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. and also at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time. The Seland Funeral Home of Coon Valley is assisting the family. Memorials may be given to St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church or Luther High School.
