Nelva Melcher, 81, of Viroqua, Wisconsin, went to her eternal home with the Lord on September 19, 2021. Her life was centered around Jesus Christ, the church, and her family. Among Nelva's favorite Bible verses were: Psalms 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God.” and Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Nelva met her husband Dan in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This year they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Nelva had a servant’s heart, so you often saw her cooking in the kitchen at Living Waters Bible Camp. She also served at Awana, prepared meals for those in need, crocheted dozens of baby blankets as gifts to new parents, and blessed many individuals with her handmade cards.
When she wasn’t serving others, she liked to read, sing hymns, and spend time with family and friends. Nelva loved making memories with family! She found great joy each Christmas preparing a little something for each family and making plastic canvas crafts for the grandkids and great-grandkids. On the wall next to her Lazy-boy chair she hung photos of all her great-grandchildren. Nelva loved Ice cream and couldn’t wait to share with anyone who visited.
Nelva is survived by her husband Dan, her son Daniel (Donna) Arlington Heights, Illinois, daughters LuAnn (Tony) Nakhla of Wausau, Wisconsin, Shari (Rick) Lucht of Weston, Wisconsin, and Kathy (Brian) Lamers of Hanover Park, Illinois. She is further survived by her grandchildren Michael (Renee), Bradley, Monica (Chris), Elizabeth (David), Daniel (Melissa), Matthew (Danielle), Nathan (Jessica), Megan (Eric), Steven (Anna), Thomas, Jonathan (Phoebe), and Jennifer. As well as great-grandchildren Gavin, Carson, Elise, Kolten, Ava, Raegan, Liam, Peyton, Bradley, Joy, Noah, Annabelle, Joash, Elias, and Naara. She also has 5 siblings Barbara, Frankie, Cindy (Mike), Cora, and John; brother and sister-in-laws Larry (Nancy), Bessie (Homer), Stan (Eunice), and Paul (Joyce) as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Helen (Woolston) Farrow and Frederick Woolston, sisters Helen and Candy, and brother Herbert.
