Paul M. Moilien, 79, of rural Westby, died Friday evening April 22, 2011 at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua. He was born August 14, 1931 to Thorvald and Lillian (Smeby) Moilien in La Crosse. Paul was baptized and confirmed at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. He attended Spring Coulee School and graduated from Westby High School in 1949. Paul married Jean Ringquist on March 31, 1956 at the Wesley United Methodist Church in La Crosse. The couple farmed their married life in Spring Coulee. Paul also worked at Norplex and Allis Chalmers in La Crosse for a brief time. After retiring from farming, Paul has worked the past 12 years at Wal-Mart in Viroqua in the sporting goods and hardware departments. He enjoyed his work and liked to visit with people while mixing paint. He was a former member of the Coon Valley Lions Club, a life member of the Coon Valley Conservation Club and a life long member of the Coon Valley Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council. Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandsons.
Survivors include his wife Jean; 3 sons Robert, Richard (Pat) and Ronald; 2 grandsons, Hunter and Darik all of rural Westby; a sister Maren (Allan) Thomack of Clarksville, Tenn. and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law Crystal Linse-Moilien.
