Ralph R. Krause

Ralph R. Krause, of La Crosse and formerly of rural Genoa, died Thursday April 19, 2018 at his home.  He was born April 23, 1926 in La Crosse to Phillip and Irma (Schnick) Krause.  Ralph was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chaseburg.  He graduated from Lansing High School in 1944.  On August 13, 1949 he married Rose Hanesworth at the church parsonage in Chaseburg.  The couple lived on the Krause home farm (now a Century Farm) all their married life.  Rose died February 1, 2011.  On August 11, 2013 he married Angeline Dummer.

Ralph worked at Williams Construction for over 25 years.  He enjoyed trapping, turkey hunting, flower and vegetable gardening.  He was also an avid Brewers fan. He was a member of the Wisconsin and National Trappers Association and a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Angeline; a son Bruce (Faith) Krause of Salem, Iowa; a daughter Kim (Jeff) Snider of La Crosse; a daughter-in-law Lori Krause of Prairie du Chien, 3 grandchildren, Andrea (Nick) Gilberts of Prairie du Chien, Scott (Jen) Krause of Birmingham, Iowa and Rebecca (Johnny) Murphy of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; 5 great grandchildren; 3 step sons, Daniel (Veteran), David (Ann) and Douglas (Karen) Dummer; 5 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Rose, a son Kent and a sister Vivian Beitlich.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday April 24, 2018 at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chaseburg.  Friends may call at the church from 9:30 until service time.  Pastor Steven Oldre will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.  The Seland Funeral Home is assisting the family.
