Rolf H. Lee

Rolf H. Lee, 60 of La Crosse and formerly Coon Valley died quietly in his sleep on August 6, 2024.

 He was born on March 12, 1964, in La Crosse to H. Robert and Elizabeth Lee and was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in La Crosse. Rolf was a graduate of La Crosse Central High School and the University of Wisconsin Madison Engineering School. After college, he enjoyed a rewarding career as a Professional Engineer, initially at Dewberry & Davis Engineers in Fairfax, Virginia, and later as a Project Manager for the Engineering Department at the City of San Diego. In San Diego he earned international acclaim as Project Manager of the Year for his contributions to various projects including the San Diego South Bay Ocean Outfall project along the border with Mexico.

 Over the years, he resided in La Crosse, Washington D.C. area, San Diego, and returned to his hometown of La Crosse, Wisconsin upon retirement.

 Rolf was known for his intelligence, kindness, and gentleness. He befriended many whom others would not. He had a passion for investing in the stock market and was an avid runner, competing in over two dozen marathons. He was also a dedicated fan of the Wisconsin Badgers.

 Rolf was proud of his Norwegian heritage and enjoyed spending time at the cabin that he and his brother built on the family’s original homestead.

 Surviving are his brother David (Sylvia) of Cajamarca, Peru and many second cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, H. Robert and Elizabeth, whom Rolf loved dearly.

Services will be held at Coon Valley Lutheran Church in Coon Valley on Friday, August 16; visitation will be at 10 a.m., followed by a service at 11 a.m. A reception will take place afterward. Condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com. 

 Memorials may be given to the Norskedalen Nature & Heritage Center or UW-Madison Civil and Environmental Engineering Scholarship Fund.
