Rose E. Krause, 79, of rural Genoa, died Tuesday February 1, 2011 at her home after a short battle with leukemia. She was born April 8, 1931 in La Crosse to Roland and Sara (Veglahn) Hanesworth. Rose attended school in Stoddard and graduated from Central High School. On August 13, 1949 she married Ralph Krause at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church Parsonage in Chaseburg. The couple has lived on the Krause home farm all their married life. Rose was the Town of Harmony Clerk for over 20 years and the Assessor for the Towns of Sterling, Genoa and Coon for several years. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and also taught it in several classes. She was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church and a former member of the Green Acres Homemakers.
Survivors include her husband Ralph; a son Bruce (Faith) Krause of Salem, Iowa; a daughter Kim (Jeff) Snider of La Crosse; a daughter-in-law Laurie Krause of La Farge; 3 grandchildren Andrea (Nick) Gilbert of Prairie du Chien, Scott (Jen) Krause of Birmingham, Iowa and Becky (Jim) Murphy of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; 4 great grandchildren; 3 brothers Bill (Ruth) and Tom (Phyllis) Hanesworth both of DeWitt, Iowa and Gary (Sharon) Hanesworth of Taylorsville, N. Carolina; 1 sister Ann (Hank) Shaw of Morrilton, Ark; a sister-in-law Vivian Beitlich of Stoddard; an aunt Arlene Rhode of La Crosse and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Kent on March 25, 2008.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday February 6, 2011 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. Rev. Steve Oldre will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Friends may call at the church on Sunday from noon until service time. The Seland Funeral Home is assisting the family. Memorials may be given to St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church or Gundersen Lutheran Hospice.
