Selmer "Sam" Michael Lindahl, 89, of rural Stoddard passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center in La Crosse. He was born June 8, 1924 to Joel and Salomea (Stoehr) Lindahl in Viroqua. He married Margaret Stendahl on Thursday, May 15, 1947 at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. The couple farmed their married life on Hamburg Ridge, rural Stoddard milking registered Brown Swiss. Sam enjoyed restoring and flying his airplanes, making woodcrafts, which Margaret decorated, and a passion for planting trees.
His wife Margaret of 66 years survives him. He is also survived by one son Michael (Sally) Lindahl of rural Stoddard and their children Ashley (Jeff) Olson, Jon, Jay and Alex. Three daughters survive him: Bonnie (Harold) Beitlich of Rockford, Illinois and son Ryan; Susan (Robert) Carlson of Jamestown, North Dakota and sons Andrew (Angela), Thomas and Justin Beitlich; and Karen Geiger of Green Bay and daughter Elise. Four great-grandchildren: Austin, Cody and Carter Beitlich and Jed Olson. One brother Adolph (Gloria) Lindahl of La Crosse and one sister Caroline Bakkestuen of Westby and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2014 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in La Crosse. Rev. Harald Bringsjord will officiate with burial in the Viroqua Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. The Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley is assisting the family. Online condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com
