Stanley M. Berg, 93 of La Crosse died Saturday April 5, 2025 at his home. He was born September 4, 1931 to Victor and Bertha (Hanson) Berg in Vernon County, one of eight children. He grew up in the West Prairie area near Viroqua. He graduated from Viroqua High School and attended La Crosse State University. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict as a flight instructor. He taught instrument flying to WWII pilots that were recalled for the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge, he met Cecilia Trussoni and they were married October 6, 1955 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Genoa.
He was a member of the former Marine Corps League and the Asbury United Methodist Church where he was active in the Men’s Club and served as usher. Stan was a very loving, caring husband and father. He was loved by all.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years Cecilia, children, Anita Larson, Lori (Timothy) Stanek, Michael Berg and Steven (Julie) Berg; grandchildren, Daniel Ross (Jennifer) Cabassa, Jesse L. Larson and Matthew S. Berg; step grandchildren, John (Shannon) Stanek and Michelle Stanek; a great grandchild, Emerson Cabassa; step grandchild Isabella Stanek; brother Alvin (Lois) Berg and sister Frances Dahlke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Esther Stokke, Ardis Severson, Orbin Berg, Clarence Berg, Donald Berg and Selmer Berg.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday April 10, 2025 at the FaithUnited Methodist Church, 1818 Redfield Street in La Crosse. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Burial with military honors will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. The Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley is assisting the family. Condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com. Memorials may be given to Asbury United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
