Steven G. Nofsinger, 65, of rural Coon Valley died Monday February 23, 2015 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse surrounded by his family. He was born October 16, 1949 in Vernon County to Otto and Myrtle (Boldon) Nofsinger. Steve graduated from Brookwood High School in 1969. On June 6, 1970 he married Nancy Holte at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Steve operated and lived on the Engh beef farm, rural Chaseburg, for 20 years and also worked at the Coon Valley Creamery, then the Midport Creamery, and most recently at Organic Valley in Chaseburg until retiring in 2006 due to his health. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, puzzles and coin collecting. Steve loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; 4 children, Angela (Chad) Oliver, Nathan (Danielle) Nofsinger both of Westby, April (Anthony) Greene of Onalaska and Amy Nofsinger (fiancAC. Andrew Godfrey) of Cataract; 6 grandchildren, Cassandra, Brandy, Lauren, Alexzander, Megan and Leah; 3 sisters, Minnie (Cecil) Woods of Rock Island, Illinois, Lucile (Donald) Bellin of Merrill and Thelma (Ken) Chroninger of La Farge; 1 brother, Roger (Bonnie) Nofsinger of Marathon and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Philip and Larry; twin brothers in infancy, Raye and Faye; and a sister Ledema.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley. A private family prayer service will be held with Rev. Mitzi Miyamoto officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.Visits: 5
