Tilman "Tilly" M. Haugen

Tilman "Tilly" M. Haugen, 72, of Coon Valley, died Sunday evening December 11, 2011 at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby where he had been a resident since September. He was born June 29, 1939 to Trygve and Mabel (Klomsten) Haugen. Tilly graduated from Westby High School and served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 6 years. He married Judy Finney on September 20, 1969. The couple lived in Coon Valley all their married life.

Tilly worked at Norplex (Allied Signal) in La Crosse for 30 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Coon Valley and a former member of the Coon Valley Fire Department. Tilly enjoyed antiques, auctions, collecting and recycling cans and visiting over coffee. The last few years he also enjoyed fishing with his friend Don Denison.

Survivors include 3 brothers-in-law Robert (Jackie) Finney, Ambrose (Debbie) Finney and Bill Finney all of La Crosse; a sister-in-law Mary (Steve) Berg of Genoa and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Judy on August 11, 2007 and a nephew Michael Finney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday December 15, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Coon Valley. Rev. Joseph Nakwah will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be given to the Knutson Memorial Library.
