Vicki L. (Stafslien) Misner

Vicki L. (Stafslien) Misner, 69, formerly of Viroqua and San Diego, died September 17, 2018 in Las Vegas.

Vicki Leigh (Stafslien) Misner was born July 9th, 1949 to David and Betty(Smith) Stafslien.  David was in the Air Force so their family lived on various Air Force bases throughout the United States. She liked to joke that she was an" Air Force Brat."  The family experienced a lot of  loss in their immediate family, losing their 6 year old brother Kent in 1959 and then their 38 year old  Mother in 1963 to cancer. Vicki always was a very caring and loving person. When her father was diagnosed with cancer and then passed away, Vicki along with sister June went to live with their aunt and uncle Ted and June Ritter in Owatonna, Mn. She graduated from UWL and followed in fathers footsteps by enlisting in the Air Force. As an officer, she received many awards and high accolades. At the age of 22 she became the first woman in the United States to head the vehicle operations with 55 men under her.  She traveled the world with the Air Force and ended her 24 year career in San Diego. Vicki definitely favored the state of California as the place to live. Committed to her church and various charities, she was passionate about the charity “Shoes that Fit”.  She often wrote with pride the number of shoes and socks provided to various schools. Vicki is survived by her husband, Paul Minns, Brother Scott(Janet) Stafslien, and families,  Tracy(Jerry) and Jason(Carrie), and Sister June(Kevin) Krebsbach and family, Jennifer(Addison) and Philip, many cousins, great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday Nov. 3 at the Middle Coon Valley Lutheran Church, rural Chaseburg with a visitation from noon until service time.  The Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley is assisting the family.
