Viola L. Hanson

Viola L. Hanson, 95, of rural Chaseburg, died Thursday evening October 21, 2010 at Hillview Health Care Center in La Crosse. She was born August 10, 1915 to Paul and Mathilda (Lenser) Loeffler in Bergen Township, Vernon County. Viola was baptized, confirmed and a lifelong member of St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stoddard. She attended Hilltop School, rural Stoddard. On May 12, 1931, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Hanson in Viroqua. The couple farmed in the Chaseburg and Stoddard area all their married life. Viola enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening and baking.

Survivors include one daughter Donna Lowrey of La Crosse; one son Jerry (Mary) Hanson of Chaseburg; 4 grandchildren Loren Lowrey of La Crosse; Lynn (Chip) Romig of Lake Ellsinore, California, Randy Hanson and friend Debbie Koblitz and Trent (Rhonda) Hanson of Chaseburg; 8 great grandchildren Kristi Peterson, Ryan and Brittany Lowrey; Travis and Kyle Hanson, Tyler, Zachary and Tanner Hanson; 3 great great grandchildren Landon, Aiden and Brody; several nieces and nephews; special friends Tammy Hanson and Penny Lowrey; and her dog Bernie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lloyd on October 14, 2002; one sister Gertrude (Ole) Martine; 2 sisters in infancy Dorothy and Bernice; a son-in-law Evan Lowrey; 5 sisters-in-law and 6 brothers-in law.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday October 24, 2010 at St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stoddard. Rev. Philip Arnold will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday at the church from 1 p.m. until service time. Memorials may be given to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church or the charity of donor's choice.
