Vivian E. Leum

Vivian E. Leum, 89, of Westby and formerly of Coon Valley died Sunday May 22, 2011 at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby where she had been a resident the past 3 years. She was born July 26, 1921 to Eddie and Anna (Hanson) Lunde. Vivian was baptized, confirmed and married by Rev. J.O. Holum in Westby. She graduated from Westby High School in 1939. Vivian married Milton Leum on March 15, 1941 at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in the area until 1994 before retiring to Coon Valley. Milton passed away October 18, 1997.

Vivian was a member of RSVP, Our Savior's Lutheran Church and WELCA, Norseland Auxiliary, Coon Valley Lutheran Anna Circle, Norskedalen and Westby Senior Citizens. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and lefse and cookie baking.

Mom can now be with dad and be at peace with no more worries. We will all miss her very much.

Survivors include her 3 children, Larry (Geri) Leum of Coon Valley, Robert (Beverly) Leum of Holmen and Virginia (Steven) Pederson of Coon Valley; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 13 godchildren; a sister Carol Larson; 2 brothers Roger (Dorothy) Lunde and Irvin (Mary) Lunde; 5 sisters-in-law Eunice Sorenson, Olga Gossett, Eleanor Ekern, Lillian Leum and Esther Leum; 2 brothers-in-law Gilbert (Anna) Leum, Norman Oftedahl and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, 2 brothers Eddie, Jr. and Chester and a sister Arlene in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday May 26, 2011 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Westby. Rev. Gary Daines will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until service time. The Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley is assisting the family. Memorials may be given to the Coon Valley First Responders or the Norseland Auxiliary. Online condolences may be offered at selandsfuneralhome.com. In lieu of sending thank you's, the family will be making a donation in Vivian's memory.
