Walter "Wally" E. Miller

Walter "Wally" E. Miller, 80, of La Crosse, passed away peacefully Wednesday May 19, 2010 at Hillview Health Care Center in La Crosse. He was born April 9, 1930 in La Crosse to Arthur and Minnie (Manske) Miller. Walter married Delores "Dee" Stellner on August 10, 1991 in La Crosse. They enjoyed traveling south for many winters, dancing, fishing and any outdoor activities. Walter was an extremely hard worker; he worked many years at Mathy's and retired from Katz Company in La Crosse. He also was an accomplished carpenter. Walter was a lifelong member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Crosse.

He is survived by his loving wife Dee, his brothers Robert (Hazel) of La Crosse, La Vern (Karen) of Stoddard; sisters Mabel Knobloch of Westby, Francis Olsgard of Colorado Springs, CO; Minnie Sisbach of La Crosse and Marie (Alfred Berra) of Genoa; sisters-in-law Evelyn Miller of La Crosse and Dorothy Miller of Stoddard; also many step children, step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Helen, brothers Arnold, Arthur and Earl; sister Alice Switzenberg; brothers-in-law Kurt Switzenberg, Melvin Olsgard, Argyle Sisbach and Jerry Knobloch; stepsons Kenneth Holcombe and Duane Stellner and a step granddaughter Sarah Stellner.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday May 22, 2010 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Crosse. Rev. Jonathan Rimmert will officiate with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery in La Crosse. Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time.
