Wesley Eugene Bluske, 85, of Chaseburg, passed away at his home in Chaseburg Monday, January 2, 2017. He was born in the Town of Harmony in rural Chaseburg on August 8, 1931 to Harry C. Bluske and Frieda (Schroeder) Bluske. Wesley married Carol Wrobel at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Chaseburg on Sept. 25, 1953.
Wesley was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. He graduated from Viroqua High School in 1949 where he played high school baseball, was on the Legion baseball team and South Ridge baseball teams as a left fielder. Wesley farmed in rural Chaseburg with his dad until December 1955 when he owned and operated the Bluske Mobil Station until his retirement in 2004. Community and church involvement was very important to him. He was a life-long member of St. Peter's Church where he held many positions within the church council and sang in the church choir for over 70 years. He was an assessor and trustee for the village of Chaseburg for over 30 years, a volunteer at the Gundersen Health Center for 10 years, a member of the Friends of Chaseburg and on the Senior Preferred Advising Committee. Wesley enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His hobbies included music, fishing, woodworking, golfing, as well as reading and watching all sporting events.
Survivors include his wife Carol; their four children, Kathryn (David) Fontanini of Onalaska, Kristine (John) LeRoy of Somerset, WI, Kevin (Donna) Bluske and Kenneth (Kay) Bluske all of Chaseburg; grandchildren, Anthony (Steph) Fontanini, Andrew, Tyler (Liz) and Robert LeRoy, Britany, Samantha and Alex Bluske and Katie and Kylie Bluske; one great-grandchild, Walter LeRoy; one sister Carol Tryggestad, sister-in-law Carol A. Bluske and Corinne Nelson and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother DuWayne Bluske; brothers-in-law Loren Tryggestad and Roger Nelson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday January 6, 2017 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. Rev. Steven Oldre will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until service time.
