Wilfred "Willie" A. Bushek, 94, of La Crosse and formerly of Rochester died Sunday June 30, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse. He was born July 17, 1918 at home in Monroe County to Joseph and Anna (Silha) Bushek. Wilfred was a World War II veteran in the U.S. Army Air Corp serving from January 1941 to December 1945 in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. On August 9, 1947 he married Lorrayne Johnson in Denver, Colorado where he also attended watch maker school. Wilfred owned a jewelry store in Bangor for several years. For over 50 years the couple lived in Rochester, Minnesota where he worked for Gopher Aviation and then Mayo Clinic. He was very active at Zumbro Lutheran Church and the VFW. The couple moved to La Crosse in November 2008. Wilfred and Lorrayne together enjoyed square dancing, traveling extensively throughout the country, entertaining and playing cards with friends.
Survivors include 5 sisters-in-law Renata Bushek of Bangor, Harriet Pearson of Cleveland, Miss., Marjorie Bushek of La Crosse, Conelee Rude and Pat (Carroll) Olson both of Westby and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lorrayne in 2009, his parents and 3 brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday July 5, 2013 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in La Crosse. Rev. Bruce Iverson will officiate with burial in Moen Cemetery, rural Cashton. Friends may call on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be given to the Good Shepherd Youth because Wilfred had a special place in his heart for young people.
